“Yabba dabba doo, Where’s Your Get Up and Go?” To a Safe and Secure Home and Family…Fred is Now Settled

In ancient English history, the name Fred was commonly used as a title for noble leaders, as it signified their role in maintaining peace and administering justice.  In a more comical sense, Fred can be associated with Fred Flintstone, the main character of the animated sitcom, The Flintstones.  Fred is generally portrayed as impulsive, immature, and prone to accidents due to his aggressive, childish, and obstinate nature.  Fred’s classic quote,  “Yabba dabba doo: Where’s your get up and go?” best describes our little Chihuahua/Dachshund, aka Chiweenie mix.

Fred and Wilma were surrendered to the Seminole Animal Shelter.  10 adults and 4 puppies were surrendered to the shelter.  They had lived outside, never allowed in, and finding themselves incarcerated in an unfamiliar place, behind bars, they were fearful. Felicia Stilley, Almost Home Foster & Rescue Foster Momma pulled them from the pound and headed homeward.

We set up a meeting spot in Liberty MO.  Easy access, but a very busy location.  Interstate 35 to the West and Hwy 152, a 6-lane nightmare to the North.  We had met and transferred many a dog prior, always before the stores opened and the lots were vacant.  Fred managed to get away from us and took a three-day, unsupervised walk-about.  We enlisted the help of Dawn Adams of KC Northland Dog Trapper and her quick and precise actions resulted in a safe and secure catch.  Another turn-and-burn trip to Missouri and Fred finally made it to rescue.

This past weekend, Fred continued his journey to his furever home and family.  Fred was welcomed home by his human-momma Mary and two fur-siblings, Layla and Maggie.  He has a huge, securely fenced yard and he enjoys the cuddles and snuggles from his stay-at-home momma and quick romps and playtime with his sisters.

Thank you, Mary, for opening your heart and home to Fred.  Thank you for giving him the life, home and family that he so richly deserves.  We are furever grateful.
